Lynn, Way to go! This is an awesome idea! As the dad of a special little girl, I've always made her valentine by hand, except one year, and boy did I hear about that! Making a card, in a world of preprinted, impersonal messaged cards makes for great memories, and leaves plenty of opportunity to customize to fit the receiver. My daughter is visually impaired, so I always add tactile features much to her delight.

For her schoolmates it was always the prepackaged pop hero-of-the-day cards until this year when her mom found valentine's cards online that were both braille and print. While they weren't homemade, they were printed on recylced paper and were clearly different! Her classmates loved them (as did all the adults she sent them to!)

So what do you have up your sleeve for St. Patty's Day Lynn?!! Inquiring minds want to know!! Thanks again for all your great work with this blog!

Hey Steve, thanks for checking out OrganicMania! It's great to see a Dad on the site every so often! I love the story about the Braille cards. Thanks for sharing this!
But St. Patty's Day? I haven't even thought that far ahead! :) -- Lynn

I plan to help my daughter make her own. She loves to do crafts, so it will be right up her alley.

Great, thanks for sharing Dannie, and thanks for stopping by! -- Lynn

my kids and I are having a blast creating
valentines notes. Great idea. If you want to
post cards from your readers I have a cute one from
my daughter. Even my older son thought it was
a good idea.

Glad to hear it! :) Would love to see the card - send a pic and maybe I can post it!

That's exactly what we will do - make our own. Since my son and his kindergarten classmates are Lego fans we'll take a picture of one of his original creations and print it out on card stock with a valentine's message.

I did look at boxed cards but..I just couldn't get over the assortment- cheap junk with commercial characters - to be thrown away the day after V-day.

Thanks for stopping by, MC! Leave it to <a href="http://notquitecrunchyparent.blogspot.com" rel="nofollow">The Not Quite Crunchy Parent </a>to come up with a great "Green Valentine" idea! -- Lynn
