I had a friend who use to make her 1 year old all sort of food including Chinese food. Her dad gave her grief, and her quick response-what do you think all those kids in China eat dad! Just goes to show you that there have been babies long before plastic crap and baby related products hit the market. 

I'm with you, most of that stuff we don't need. I never bought a baby monitor either, the kid was loud enough without it.
